Health Qigong

Health Qigong is a modernized form of traditional Qigong, developed by the Chinese Health Qigong Association. It consists of gentle, flowing movements combined with breathing and mental focus, aimed at promoting health, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being.

The forms are rooted in ancient Qigong traditions but adapted to meet contemporary needs: safe, accessible, and supported by medical research. Today, they are practiced worldwide as a method of health promotion.

A commonly used definition states:
“Health Qigong is a Chinese health practice that combines Qigong theory and traditional medicine with modern sports science. It improves physical fitness, balances body and mind, and strengthens life energy (qi).”

Several standardized forms exist within this system. The ones I teach include:

  • Baduanjin (Eight Brocades)
  • Wuqinxi (Five Animal Frolics)
  • Daoyin Yangsheng Gong Shi Er Fa (see Daoyin page for details)
